Coastal Vehicle Hire
A website built to win more van rental bookings in Coleraine
Coastal Vehicle Hire is an established van rental business in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. The team had built a strong local reputation. Their old website did not match it. Most enquiries came in by phone and whatsapp, but the site made people hunt for those options. We rebuilt it around one job: turning visitors into bookings. See more of our website work.
The challenge: a trusted business with a site that held it back
Coastal Vehicle Hire delivers a great service offline. Online told a different story. Calls to action were unclear. Contact details were buried. The booking path was confusing. Anyone who wanted a van had to dig to find the next step. Every extra second and every extra click is a chance to lose a customer. So we flipped the script and put booking first.
What we built
- A fully custom wordpress website, designed and built from scratch.
- A mobile-first, responsive layout that works cleanly on every screen.
- google maps and whatsapp click-to-chat, built straight in.
- seo-optimised content and metadata across every page, the same approach we use in our seo work.
- An easy-to-use cms, so the team can update the fleet themselves.
- A clear "rent a vehicle" call to action in every key section.
How we removed the friction
We did not just make the site look better. We made it easier to book. The homepage now guides visitors straight to "rent a vehicle" with nothing in the way. A soft blue gradient and clean vehicle photography build trust at a glance, in line with the brand's new direction from our branding work. Phone and whatsapp sit front and centre on mobile and desktop, because that is how most enquiries arrive.
Speed and reach were the priority. More than half of mobile visitors leave a page that takes over three seconds to load, according to Google, so we built for a fast load on a phone. We also designed the mobile layout around the thumb zone, placing the important buttons where a thumb naturally lands. Putting key actions in easy reach is a well-tested way to cut effort and lift completion, as usability research shows. Less effort for the customer means more completed bookings. We did the same conversion-first build for a local dental practice in our New Row Dental case study.
The result
Coastal Vehicle Hire now has a fast, mobile-first website that matches the service they deliver in person. The team updates the fleet themselves, with no developer needed for small changes. In a market where trust and convenience win the booking, the new site gives Coastal a clear edge.
